I'm considering planning a trip to Poland in the next couple years. Both sides of my family are primarily from what is now Poland (though one side is ethnically German) and I think my grandparents would love it. Has anybody here been to Poland? I'd definitely go to Gdansk, as that's where one side of the family is from, and I've heard that Krakow and Wroclaw are nice.

Also, any tips for learning basic Polish? I just did the first Duolingo unit and I'm already beating my head against the wall, so I don't know that Duolingo will be the way to go this time. Or alternately, how far will English get me there?
